Is content REALLY đź‘‘ đź‘‘đź‘‘?

It’s been a lovely sunny day, and 15 degrees here today.

I was doing some cardio training today, something I like to do from Monday to Friday.

During my training, I was listening to part 2 of an audio by Dan Kennedy.

Dan talks about Marvel…

Saying that everyone’s heard of Spider-Man, Iron Man, The Avengers and Captain America. And that you’d have to be living in a cave not to have.

But did you know that Marvel was almost bankrupt on three separate occasions?

They HARDLY ever made any money… Nope.

And every once in a while, they had a year when they made some money.

They had licensed out all their films for relatively low money because they so desperately needed cash all the time.

They made no profit…

Even after years and years and years of having a ton of popular intellectual property.

As popular as Spider-Man was then, they couldn’t turn in any cash.

(I can still remember going to the cinema in the 70s when I was a kid to watch Spiderman, I loved that film. Lol.)

Then Disney brought it, being smart marketers, they knew what to do.

They plugged it into their ecosystem and got their entire purchase price back on three films, and the thing is making a fortune.

So, it ain’t the intellectual property!

Nope… It’s intellectual property and what gets done with it.

And Dan says:
“When you hear the phrase “content is king” this is utterer CRAP.

It’s another way of saying – if you build a better mousetrap, they’ll beat a path to your door.”

And according to Dan, this is a fatally flawed idea.

Content is NOT king, it’s worthless. It’s what you do with that content where the value lies.

Zaf.
