I was flipping through a newsletter to which I’m subscribed.
This month’s issue discusses selling.
That sales are made by pulling emotional triggers… that:
“We Really Don’t Sell PRODUCTS Online Or Offline, We Sell Emotion.”
And it’s about honing in on the emotions to make a sale.
The place to see this in action is through TV and radio… these will give you plenty to model and learn from.
And when you start paying attention to the TV and radio, it’s amazing how true the above statement is.
I was watching the TV last night and a party-political broadcast came on TV for the Labour Party.
And from what I can remember, it was to do with pensioners and how they were being affected by their “cold weather” payments being stopped.
If you’re in the UK, you might have even seen this.
At the time, I honestly wasn’t paying a lot of attention to it, but I do recollect they showed quite a few emotional scenes in the ad.
It’s quite fascinating when you start looking at these sorts of ads and studying them.
A great example to study is the ASPCA commercials.
I Googled these and found a load of the ASPC ads on iSpot.tv.
There are some great examples there to look through.
So, if you want to beef up your ad or email campaigns… Ask yourself:
“What emotional triggers am I leaving on the table?”
Doing this will help you create more compelling content. For use in affiliate marketing, email marketing and more.
